Faculty Associate Profile

Faculty Associates are faculty of Creighton University who work in the areas of religion and society. Their primary appointments are in academic departments of the university, but they have committed their expertise, interests, and skills to the collaborative work of the Center.

Eligibility

Faculty Associates must have a full-time appointment or the rank of Emeritus in an academic department at Creighton University. They must have a demonstrated interest in religion and society, and a commitment to contribute to the mission of the Kripke Center.

Application

Faculty of Creighton University may apply to be Faculty Associates of the Kripke Center with a letter of intent to the Director of the Center. The letter should include:

A description of the applicant’s interest in religion and society;
A statement on how the applicant intends to contribute to the mission of the Center.

A current curriculum vitae should be included with the letter.

The applicant’s letter and curriculum vitae will be reviewed by the existing Faculty Associates, who will recommend to the Dean of the Creighton College of Arts and Sciences the applicant’s appointment. New Faculty Associates are appointed by the Dean to a three-year term, renewable upon request.

Responsibilities

Faculty Associates support the mission of the Center through research, teaching, and service, collaborate with and support fellow associates, and participate in the events of the Kripke Center.

Faculty Associates commit themselves:

To attend faculty meetings of the Center;
To participate in the events of the Center;
To contribute to the mission of the Center through research, teaching, and service;
To share knowledge and collaborate with other associates.

Faculty Associates also serve on the editorial board of the Journal of Religion & Society.

Privileges

The work of the Faculty Associates makes up the work of the Kripke Center. Thus, the resources of the Kripke Center exist to support the Faculty Associates’ research, teaching, and service in the areas of religion and society.

The Faculty Associates may initiate projects, apply for research grants, and collaborate with other associates. The support and funding of the Kripke Center is determined by the initiatives of the Faculty Associates in accord with the mission of the Center.
