Professor Simkins teaches courses in Hebrew Bible and Israelite Religions, the archaeology and history of Syria-Palestine, and the history of the ancient Near East. He has participated in the excavations at Ashkelon and Caesarea Maritima.

He is director of photography and the web master for the Virtual World Project.
