Inside the Entrance

Standing inside the eastern corner of the house, we survey the spacious courtyard and surrounding rooms. The courtyard measures almost 8 by 12 meters in size and takes up about one-fifth of the entire residence. Notice the two entrances along the structure's eastern facade, the wider of the two leading directly into the courtyard. The wall that separates us from the courtyard and forms this narrow hall appears to have been carelessly constructed at some later phase of occupation. Finally, look carefully into the desert brush growing just inside the smaller entrance at the northeastern corner of the narrow hall in order to view the conical stone mortar that still rests there in situ.
