Dolmen 4 provides a fine example of a four-walled capped dolmen with portal. The whole is recessed, allowing a convenient removable cover to be set in place. On average, the dolmens here are about 3 m x 1 m in area and stand about 1 meter high. In many places dolmens are found in clusters. Although no uniform placement pattern for the field is apparent, one researcher, J. L. Swauger, observed that the dolmens with a north-south orientation have door slabs positioned on the northern end, while those oriented east-west have their doors on the eastern end.

There are still many questions surrounding the motivations and identities of the original builders and those who used them later. The association with death and burial is easily made, especially since burial remains have been found in connection with some sites; however, this may not indicate their original purpose.
