Area South of the Gate
South of gate chambers 1 and 2 there is a wall about 1.75 m wide, beyond which are various rooms and storage areas, the exact functions of which have yet to be determined. The overall complex is roughly 8 m x 10 m in size and divided up into sections by a series of walls measuring slightly less than 1 meter in width. There is a single entrance on the western side. Beyond that, resuming the work of brief intermittent periods at the end of the 1990s, excavators working at the extreme southern end of the tell uncovered structures from the Hellenistic-Roman period. This area of Bethsaida, designated Area T, remains largely unexcavated.
