Welcome to CNE/HIS 419 Ancient Egypt: History, Society, and Culture.
Through the readings, the written assignments, and the class lectures and discussions, the student will explore the history, society, economy, and religion of ancient Egypt from the predynastic era through the Ptolemaic Period. The student will learn about the distinctive institutions and worldviews of the ancient Egyptians and how these are expressed through their cultural artifacts and social system.
The reading assignments have been designed to introduce the student to the history of ancient Egypt within its social, economic, and religious context.
The written assignments have been designed to guide the student in forming critical judgments about the archaeology and history of ancient Egypt.
The class lectures and discussions will serve as a vehicle for the student and the professor to interact and dialogue through the course material. |
