The
Master of Arts in Ministry program prepares students for professional
ministry in the Church in the Roman Catholic tradition. At the end of
the degree program the lay ecclesial minister will have a broad education
in theology and the personal and professional competencies requisite for
ministry.
Candidates from the Archdiocese of Omaha will be the primary focus of
the initial years of this program, but it is hoped that other neighboring
dioceses will participate and that the program will attract representatives
from other Christian denominations.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Admission to the program requires:
a bachelor's degree (or its equivalent) with at least a 3.0 grade point
average;
two spiritual as well as two professional recommendations.
Applicants need not have any previous formal education in theology to
be admitted to the program.
CURRICULUM
The interdisciplinary Master of Ministry degree consists of thirty-six
hours of course work. The emphasis is on content knowledge followed by
demonstration of how that content knowledge has personally affected the
student and his/her ministry. With the assistance of the program director,
faculty members carefully link and integrate courses to facilitate achievement
of the desired outcomes of the degree program. Students will move through
the courses as a cohort.
